I have been a client of Dr. Dorton for years. I took Petro (my min pin) in to see her, he was very sick. Wasn't sure if he was gonna make it or not. I was so amazed she figured out what was wrong with him in 5 mins just by looking at him. Petro had Thyroid problem. I took him to more than 20 veterinarians and thousands of $ to find out nothing. She is so amazing. That was over 2 years ago, he is doing so GREAT now. Thanks for getting him well. I'm so glad I found Dr. Dorton. Thanks

I have been using Ark Vet for a year and a half. Dr. Dorton has seen 3 of my cats and my Chihuahua. I have senior pets I rushed in one afternoon (without an appointment) when my Chihuahua suddenly had unexplained paralysis. Dr. Dorton spent time with us. She researched and realized that my dog had been overdosed by another vet that I had used when my little dog got sick on the weekend. She saved my dog! (It took a few days for her to realize what was causing the temporary paralysis and seizures! I thought I was going to have to put my dog to sleep! She called several times to check my dog.) Dr. Dorton and her excellent staff have been with us compassionately when we had to have our 2 senior cats put to sleep. (One was 17 and one 18) They sent us sympathy cards! The staff is amazing!

I began going to the The Ark when we got a new puppy a few months ago. Her name is Mally and she is a Teacup chihuahua. Jennifer Dorton is her Vet and I could not be happier with the care we have received. Mally had a seizure one afternoon that scared us to death. My daughter and I scooped her up and rushed out the door not realizing what time it was. When we got to Dr. Dorton it was about 5 minutes until they closed. We had NO appointment. She saw us anyway. Stayed late to assure that our puppy had the proper care and was sent on to sister ER clinic for overnight care. Then to my surprise, Dr. Dorton called the next morning on her way to work to check on my puppy. She is a caring, wonderful Vet and I would recommend her as a long term Vet to anyone that is new to the area or looking to change Dr.'s. I could not disagree with the two previous reviews more. I have personally watched Dr. Dorton give mouth to mouth recitation to still born puppies and save their lives. She has done surgery on my Airedale Otter twice. Both times she personally called me to check on him three times. The last two reviews truly upset me. I would follow her to the end of the Earth to ensure my pet gets the best care possible.

Ark Vet is a sister clinic of North Gwinnett Animal Hospital which is also located in Buford, GA. Ark Vet has a new doctor her name is Jennifer Dorton. She has a very bubbly personality and is very nice. She really cares about her clients. I personally have been a client of hers for over seven years. I would highly recommend this clinic.

I started going to Ark Hospital about 3 years ago. We bring our 2 cats and dog here. They always have time to see my animals and I never have to wait more than 5 minutes. They are very professional and I have never had any issues with them. Their costs are so much less than other vet hospitals(and I know this because I have tried a few)..I recommend this business to anyone who has animals and need a vet. They send me email reminders and post cards to let me know which of my 3 pets are due for something. My dog had a back problem a year and half ago and they treated her(she couldn't even walk)she was 4 at the time...between the treatments and medicine and weekly visits she recovered almost 100%. The staff is patient as I am trying to pay and my dog is pulling her leash, and they are just super friendly. It took me 6 years of living here and trying 4 different vets, but they really know what they are doing and I feel good knowing my pets are healthy and being seen by such top vets. One thing I also like is that they will spend as much time with you answering any questions you have,,not rushed in and out like most vets...and I cannot state enough they are way cheaper than other vets....even grooming, which they do a beautiful job..my dog smells nicer for a longer period of time after she comes home from them...we gave them a chance after being ripped off and ignored by many vets over the years....try them out, you won't be disappointed!

I wasn't planning on having a cat, but this little old stray adopted us, and needed some medical attention so we found the Ark because it's close to us. The little cat had a skin condition which makes her itch and scratch horribly! She scratched her eye and needed to be seen by the doctor, so he treated her for the eye and for the skin problem with a steroidal injection. She improved greatly, but the problem came back and so we had to try a different treatment. It's becoming apparent that the cat suffers some sort of allergy and the medication the doctor prescribed keeps her from itching. We explained that we are on a fixed income so the expense hasn't been more than we can afford. They even lent us a cat carrier to bring her in the first time util we got one. I will continue to use this veterinary Hospital and will be bringing the cat in again soon and boarding her at Christmas time when we travel.

Dr. Denis misdiagnosed my dog three times over a period of several months, causing her to continue to have an infection which didn't get better. We brought her in another time when the first doctor wasn't working and another doctor diagnosed her correctly in under a minute. This doctor gave her medication that seemed to work, but it was changed by Dr. Denis vet to something she doesn't react well with. Also (and most importantly), we asked if she could take her heartworm meds with what Dr. Denis put her on, and were told that we could. We gave her both drugs and she wound up at the emergency vet later that night with seizures. It's a gross understatement to say they miss a lot. It's probably ok to take an animal there for yearly checkups or things anyone could do, but for anything beyond that I would steer clear.

Dr. Townshend is not personable at all with the animals or their owners. Her opinions turn into negative lectures. She talks to her staff very rudely and loud enough for customers to hear. She has lost my entire family's business. I gave the clinic 2 stars because of her friendly staff.
