Unprofessional owner. Boat didn't work.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. Today, I rented a 8-10 passenger (1700 lb) deckboat for my husband's birthday. Ten of us (weighing approx 1400 lbs) got on the boat. Before we even started, the battery had to be replaced. Took 15 minutes, no big deal. So we set off for what was supposed to be a fabulous day of boating and made it 10 minutes before the boat stopped working. We called the marina and they did not apologize but said someone would be coming to pick us up. The owner of the marina arrived and hooked up our boat to his boat. He never apologized for what was the second inconvenience of the day. He was rude. He was patronizing and acted like none of us ever had been on a boat (although all 10 of us grew up on the lake). He towed us back and the guys at the dock (who actually were very nice) immediately looked at the prop and stated that the prop was stripped and one of the pinions in the prop was not correct - which caused the problem. The owner then came over and said that the problem was our fault because the boat was overloaded. There was no question that this was untrue. A cop out in the clearest sense. I interrupted the owner and told him it would've been nice if he had started with an apology before launching into an explanation that was clearly ridiculous. He stated "I refuse to apologize for something that is not my fault" and told me he would refund my money and we could call it a day. He walked off. After some attempted negotiation, he offered to let us pay full price to drive his 10 passenger, 1700 lb capacity pontoon. As excited as I was to rent another boat from this unprofessional guy, we declined. Everyone agreed that we would not reward someone this rude with our business. Find another place to do business. I have heard there are great people and better boats at the other rental places. This experience was a nightmare.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!

Short story? The MOST unprofessional treatment and RUDE behavior...

Full story? Upon arriving to the marina, we were promptly insulted by the owner with his "inquiries" about out abilities to drive a boat (we grew up ON the lake WITH a boat). This was followed by him giving us a lecture about having too many people for a 10 passenger boat. We had 10 people, none of which are even slightly large. Things would have been forgiven, but the battery did not work so it took us about 30 minutes to wait on a new one. Still, we were fine because we know it happens. Ten minutes into our trip, the motor died... We still were willing to come up with a solution... BUT the owner comes to pick us up from HIS broken boat he rudely begins bossing us around and there is NO apology for boat issues or having to float around for over 30 minutes. When we get back, the dock boys immediately see the issue with a stripped prop and a pinion not made to fit that prop, and they begin to problem solve (they were the only redeeming factor here) but the owner comes up and launches straight into a lecture of how it is OUR fault... his logic? Having 10 people on a boat designed for 10 people caused the issue. He then refused to apologize for anything and actually stormed away refusing to do anything to fix the situation other than cancelling our payment and sending us home... Which was an hour away. We kept our composure and were treated in a rude and unprofessional manner. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!
