ProsAdministration often helps with serving hot lunch.Cafeteria staff makes holidays extra special for students.Students can get seconds on lunch items without an additional charge.Students in younger grades get a lunch recess and usually an additional oneSome the teachers are wonderful and exemplify Christian teachings and behaviors.Playground staff is nice to students.Some of the teachers spend their lunch hour eating with students. Students get out early leaving a good portion of the day remaining for those that have a stay at home parent.Uniforms can be purchased at several online and local retailers for reasonable prices. Students in grades 1-8 have their own lockers.The school keeps extra clothing available for emergency situations. Milk price for snack is very reasonable. Many staff know students by name.ConsI caught administration lying to my children and then administration tried to tell me that my children were the ones lying. The sad thing is that administration said " I would do it again". Administration could do a better job in handling issues.Administration could do better in following through on things.Principle doesn't believe in consistency or mandating policies for staff such as amount of homework. School supplies are overstated.The mile run is ran on asphalt for the majority of the grades rather than a dirt trackSchool could do a better job with children that have special learning/medical needs.Communication needs improving. Home and School Association and Advisory Board don't publish meeting minutes monthly.Parents are expected to view and print most items from online.Exit interviews aren't conducted by the pastor or anyone.Indoor recess sometimes consists of having children remain at desk and be silent.Recycling isn't taught by all staff.The school has numerous fees.Students are often given busy work and projects.A science fair is done every other year and students in all grades must participate.Students are often asked to donate money or goods. The school encourages contests.Not all teachers demonstrate Christian teachings or behaviors or are compassionate. Teachers and children aren't any more respectful or polite than at public schools.St. Vincent's doesn't draw from all that affluent of an area and not enough emphasis is placed on watching its customers pocket books. Lunch count is taken in the morning and if a student becomes ill, forgets that they are leaving prior to lunch, mistakenly checks the incorrect item on the Smartboard, or forgets they have cold lunch the student's account is charged.The lunch cost includes milk so the parent(s) are paying for it regardless if the student takes it or not.The school supposedly promotes a healthy snack environment. Healthy snacks also aren't always served during room parties. Once a month there is school store in which students can bring money to purchase items - most students do bring money. Most of the items are not healthy. Some teachers instruct students to start a new page when the previous page wasn't filled up - a waste. Grades 2-8 are required to purchase two assignment notebooks costing the parents $6.00 for the year which are included in the classroom fees. There are many days when the pages aren't completed. A ten cent notebook would provide the same purpose. The school handbook could be written more clearly and include better information.Teachers make biased decisions when giving grades. There are some flaws in security during certain times of day. School day is short.Often there is something extra happening during the day so classroom instruction is shortened. Students that take the bus have to get up early since the school day starts at 7:35.Parent drop off and pick up can be time consuming. Bussing can be costly if not within the district.
