After realizing that Thomas Heavey and Adalex Group were not an appropriately licensed contractor to complete our home renovations (although they contractually represented that they were), we requested that our $15,000 deposit be returned. Heavey and Adalex did no work, but never returned the deposit. Numerous phones calls, emails, and letters went unanswered and we were forced to hire an attorney to help us try to get back our funds. Three years and a lawsuit have now passed, and while the court issued a judgment against Adalex Group and Heavey, we still aren't even close to being whole. Last year, we finally came to a settlement agreement where Adalex would pay us a small monthly installment over several years to pay back our deposit, which we thought was generous and flexible of us. We received two small installments, but once again, although promised, the payments stopped. We will continue to pursue our case in court and fight to get back the thousands that were never returned to us. Unfortunately, however, along the way we have also discovered that Heavey and Adalex Group have a history of other large, unpaid claims against them. We recommend to never deal with Adalex or Heavey - they cannot be trusted.
