The wait was horrible ... was not talked to by a waitress for over 20 mins .. food is ok and they messed up my order

Just visited The Original Mel's in Brentwood, Ca.

The restaurant was busy but the wait was only 10 to 15 minutes. The Manager on duty did alot of walking around but based on my 18 years managing restaurants it was clear he was walking around and not "managing". After waiting in the entry area for 10 minutes and 10 minutes at the table my wife and I were ready to order when the waitress did come to our table. She wanted to take only our drink order giving us (or maybe it was her) more time.She talked to us like we were little kids in her day care class, We gave her our order and she relied on her memory instead of writing the order down. We ordered a burger, sandwich, soda and a shake to split between the two of us. The shake was brought to our table within a couple of minutes by another waitress. I guess in Mel-land people drink their shakes prior to eating and not with their meal or possibly they drink all shakes at Mel's once they are thoroughly melted. Fifteen minutes later our waitress came back and asked what our order was. Since she hadn't written our order down she hadn't turned anything into the kitchen to be cooked. She told us she would have the cooks make it "on the fly". Now we feared getting our burger and sandwich with fries served to us undercooked as the cook would more than likely hurry the order alone instead of cooking it properly.

The sandwich I ordered on the menu said it was served on "sourdough" bread. It was served on 3/4" sweet french bread. If you run a restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area and say you're serving a sandwich on "sourdough" you ought to make it SOURDOUGH.

The East County is begging for a good restaurant. And Mel's didn't answer the call.
