Dr. Pelaez and Dr. Montane are wonderful doctors and I am sad to be leaving their practice after over 30 years with them. This review is not a reflection on them, but their staff. I needed my son's medical records to show his disability to a new school so he could get the extra help he needs in class and was told that due to a balance they would not provide them. I asked to speak to billing and was trying to set up a payment arrangement with them so I could get the records. The billing rep was rude and snippy when I asked her what if he were ill or injured and in the hospital and the records were needed for his medical care. She told me that doesn't apply to my current situation so she refused to answer my question. She said she didn't feel comfortable with my questions and that I needed to speak to the office manager (Jillene Guglietta). I said that was fine and she said she would have her call me back. I stated I would hold so she placed me on hold for over 25 minutes before Jill came on the line with an immediate attitude. I asked her the same question and she refused to answer saying it wasn't pertinent to the current situation. I said I wanted to know under what circumstances they would hold his records hostage over a bill and if they would risk his well being over a balance. She again refused to answer. I said I don't understand why this is a difficult question as to what situations they will release his medical records if needed and she replied with "Well I don't understand why you can't pay your bill!". Remember, I called to make a payment arrangement with them. All this attitude over answering a simple question that I think any mother would like the answer to. Would they place my son's health at risk and withhold medical records over a balance if it were an emergency situation? The attitude was completely unnecessary and rude.
