I was attempting to danate blood a couple of weeks ago and was turned away because someone who didn't know what they were doing messed up trying to take my blood pressure. It was painfully obvious that this person was having a problem hearing my brachial pulse. It was probably because she barely had the edge of the diaphragm over the brachial artery. She never even tried to locate the brachial pulse! I hold two state medical certifications and know when someone is messing up. This person was clearly having difficulty and never asked for help. Add to this the fact that I had my blood pressure cheked just the day before. Instead of admitting she was having problems and asking for help, she entered false information TWICE in the database and turned me away. When I called to complain, they fed me some bull about regulations and standard deviations in blood pressure. My diastolic has never fluxuated by as much as this prson was trying to say it had. Unsatisfied with the results of the phone call, I sent an e-mail. Two weeks later, I have yet to hear back. Additionally, they tried to appologize for the inconvenience they cause me. I am what they refer to as a "baby doner" meaning that my blood gets set aside for pre-term babies who frequenlty need transfussions. IN MY OPPINION, THEY NEED TO APPOLOGIZE TO THE PREMATURE BABY AND IT'S PARENTS FOR NOT HAVING THAT UNIT OF BLOOD AVAILABLE TO SAVE THE BABY'S LIFE!!!! Don't waste your time going here! The Children's Hospital has many locations and employees who actually know what they're doing!
