New Jersey State Police is responsible for protecting, preserving and safeguarding the constitutional and civil rights of the citizens of New Jersey. Its general police services include law enforcement, crime prevention, legal evidence gathering, and offender pursuit, apprehension and conviction. The agency also provides patrol services for state highways, as well as investigates accidents and incidents. In addition, New Jersey State Police is responsible for emergency management and the maintenance of criminal records and identification systems. It operates a museum and learning center. The agency maintains troop, toll road and marine stations. Established in 1921, New Jersey State Police is a part of the State of New Jersey government.
