Instead of them calling you when you don't have enough money in your account. These idiots send it straight to a collection agency instead of calling you so you can walk in and pay for it

I cancelled my membership in June and I am Still getting collection letters from them. I have been there 3 times since I cancelled my membership and still unresolved. Going to report them to the BBB

I was a member of Bally’s Gym on Rt. 22 until I moved to Essex County. My friend invited me to Powerhouse. We watched a Zumba class and then decided to join in. We loved the class! I joined the gym that same day because of that class. I've been a member of this gym for almost three years because I love the Zumba instructors and classes.



However, within the last 18 months, the aerobics room has become a sauna. I have complained to the owner 'Greg' three times about the lack of circulating air in the aerobics studio. At times it is unbearably hot and suffocating in the aerobics studio.



My first two conversations with the owner, Greg, was in early Spring of 2013. I approached him about the lack of air circulation and lack of central air in the aerobics studio. I told him that it was extremely hot in the aerobics studio. He complained about central air problems in the gym and said that he was in the process of getting it 'fixed'. Then he told me that the company he hired to fix the central air problem did something incorrectly. He then proceeded to show me a pile of receipts and told me he had been dealing with this problem for over a year. I advised him to hire an attorney and take this company to court. His story didn't make much sense to me. I asked him to at least put some extra fans in the aerobics room since the heat and lack of circulation in the room is unbearable at times. He told me he would.



Fast forward 2 months later....conversation #3……unbearably hot again in the aerobics studio, no fans. I went to talk to Greg again. He was too busy to talk to me. I refused to budge. I was dripping with sweat and my body was overheating after a superheated workout in a superhot, stinky, unbreathable aerobics room. I must admit, I went off! I was livid that I had to keep talking to someone who would so nonchalantly ignore his clients’ request. This was also a safety issue and I wasn't the only client complaining about this aerobics studio. The fact that Greg couldn't even put extra fans in the studio really upset me. He couldn't meet his clients half-way? The conversation was not successful.



This gym wants their monthly gym payments on time otherwise they will restrict your account right away. They charge you a yearly maintenance fee, but they can’t maintain areas in the gym that are in need of repair or need an upgrade. SMDH Where is the money from the yearly maintenance fees going to? Not to fixing the central air in the aerobics studio.



It is now February 2014 and I am still a stupid member of this gym. It’s been hard to leave because I have built up such camaraderie with my Zumba instructors and many of the members who attend the classes. However it is Winter and the aerobics studio is still super hot!!! Unbelievable! Greg has not put any additional fans in the aerobics studio. The central air is not fixed (if that was even the ‘real’ problem). I have made a decision to talk to Greg one last time otherwise I will leave this gym. It took me a long time to create committed schedule to exercise and to attend my Zumba classes faithfully. Thank you Greg for destroying 3 years of hard work and good relationships. It’s not easy to find the right instructors who are the perfect fit for a client. I will miss my Zumba instructors.

Love this place it's the best if your looking for a real gym to get real results! Great free weight section I'm paying only 10 more than my previous gym but it's never overcrowded its 24 hrs have a boxing studio and lots of cardio. I don't know if I would recommend this gym to everyone it's not like one of those places like a retro or planet that have mostly cardio equipment! But if your a more serious about your workout and want to see results then Powerhouse Bloomfield is the spot!
