Dr. Henely did my carpel tunnel release surgery on both my left and right hand. The surgery was a success. But he would not approve me being off with short term disability. He said I could go back to work the next day with light duty for 4 weeks a no lifting anything over 5lbs. I explained my work does not have light duty. I work in a call center 10 hours a day, and with having to wear the hand braces for 4 weeks, there's no way I can keep up with the call volume and do my job efficiently. I tried to have him approve me some time off to recover ( for short term disability, that I pay for at my job for situations like this) he said that is something I have to work out with my employer (that's what the short term disability is for). I was seriously thinking of cancelling my surgery with him but I didn't want to have to find a different doctor and start all over because the pain was so bad and I was loosing strength in my hands to even do simple things. I was able to get my PCP to approve my time off.
Dr Henely is a great surgeon, but his bedside manner needs work. Anytime in the office, I always felt like I was rushed through, if I asked questions he'd answer but they would be rushed. His staff is great a very helpful. Like I said he's a great surgeon, but if you don't mind being treated like a number than he's the doctor for you, if you like someone more personable, you won't find it with him.
He sent me an email requesting a review, and in the email it had a link to see other reviews. All the reviews were positive, but from other sites(that he doesn't recommend you review) there are several bad reviews, so don't just go off the reviews on his site.
