Dr. Rex and his staff are the best anywhere, wish I would of found him many years ago. He is very good with my girls and even personally calls to do follow ups to make sure all is well. I had put off cleaning my cats teeth because the area I moved from the quotes I got were anywhere from 650-850$ (with extracting any bad teeth-which would be several hundreds more if needed). I received a coupon mailer when I arrived in Bend ,Oregon that had Dr Urich's clinic offer for 199.00 for everything. I checked at the clinic near me and got same quote as the Bay Area clinic I used. Anyway we went to Mt Bachelor and had a great experience. He advised me Mei Mei would be a bit dopey and whiney that night which I am grateful he did because she was. But was perfect the next day even with 2 extractions. Pain medicine was given that really made it seem like nothing was removed because she ate great and continues to act normal( actually seems to feel better after extractions-which Dr Rex
predicted she would.He called the next day which impressed me a lot to check on MeiMei.
We decided to use this clinic for our dog who had a Cheetgrass in the ear. I had never heard of these but they drive him crazy. Dr Rex used a very quick anesthesia to remove and then gave a drug that removes the anesthesia injection and he stood up in 5 minutes and acted like nothing had happened. Dr Rex seems to be on the cutting edge of good care and reasonable costs for Vet care. I st read the reviews in this forum and Id advised anybody to read down the list and read all reviews. There are a vast majority of greatly impressed pet owners there.I don't know the circumstances on the complainers but I bet there's another side to these stories,especially as emotional and explosive some of them appear. Having met and talked with this gentle animal lover I cant believe there are correct, Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Te staff is really nice and the facilities are pristeen clean. They have the most modern of equipment also: I got a tour and saw full laboratory, new digital xray equipment and digital dental ( like my dentist uses) and video fibre optic ear scopes for deep work in ears. New ultrasound machine as well.

We at Herd U Needed A Home Canine Rescue really appreciate that Dr. Rex is offering FREE vaccines and other vet services to us. After seeing an impromptu show and tell at a house concert where some HUNAH puppies were present he approached us directly and offered his assistance without being asked. How cool is that? We rely completely on donations and adoption fees to assist these dogs and Dr. Rex is saving the rescue a LOT of money by helping these homeless animals while they are in our care. Having taken in at least 5 or 6 dogs so far we have found him to be knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. He approaches each of our dogs with a bit of Cheez Whiz on the end of his fingers in order to win their trust and treats them very gently. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating as well. Dr Rex is the best Vet I've ever had -but no one's commented on how wonderful his staff is. Denise and Muriel I've known for 5 years and they are truly caring ,knowledgeable and professional. Always so helpful and kind. Katy and the new receptionist(sorry she's only been here awhile and I forgot her name) have equally wonderful to my family during a recent crisis we had with a Deer hoof injury that sliced our Bingo's leg open. Highest compassion and most humane costs I've seen in Bend ever. I moved from Cal where I expect to have huge bills for vet care. I needed oral surgery for my painful cat and got the kind of prices I expected in Bay area. Then I heard about Dr Rex.He's been around awhile and is old school like I was used to as a kid: very practical and caring.He showed me the state of the art equiptment( digital xray4 types of anesthesia monitoring( Im in people medicine and could appreciate the sophistication) New ultrasonic scaling. So he's very up to date. Going home my cat was not goofy or thrashing or too dopey as before. I even got 2 followup phone calls from Dr Rex himself to check on recovery. 4/22/2015I really like the way Mt Bachelor is run. I worked in a Vet Hospital for 12 years some years back and find that this place is run humanely as regards suggestions for care and pricing is very practical and therefore reasonable. Vet Med has changed so much and gotten too greedy and exploitative as compared to how Vets from an earlier era operated. Dr Rex is late 50's or early 60's and has that old style practical approach I was comfortable with. Place was very clean and airy and great tech/reception staff. I'm new to Bend and this is the second place I tried and I'm staying. K Mehan

Dr. Rex has taken care of two emergencies with our family dogs. He was compassionate , knowledgeable , and was very kind to our dogs. Mt. Bachelor Vet is an affordable clinic that gives great care. I highly recommend Dr. Rex!

Last summer I took my 4 month old puppy to Dr. Rex. From the first meeting, I got a feeling that something didn't feel right with this vet. After four more visits/phone consultations, I found my initial feelings regarding Dr. Rex was right on. He was rude, condescending, and it was obvious that he was not the kind and compassionate vet I was used to having care for my pets. My feelings were validated when speaking with former employees and owners of animals cared for by Dr. Rex.If you are looking for a vet in the Bend area, pass on Dr. Rex and keep looking.

Dr. Rex has been our vet for almost 10 years now and has seen our precious pets through a myriad of issues; some very difficult to diagnose. He never gives up. He has made house calls when needed for our 170 # King Shepherd. His compassionate and competent care earns him an excellent rating from us. Thank you Dr. Rex, for all you have done for us.

Dr Rex was so wonderful to my show dog, he is kind and gentle, and takes time to listen to what you have to say, he does a wonderful job going over your pet,His staff are also great.Because he did a wonderful job on my Show girl she was able to enter and took first in puppy class,And his prices are the best in central oregon, but more than that he truly cares for your pet,He him self called back to check on my pet, cant say enough great things about him and his staff, Thank you all so much Sandy and Jazzie

Dr. Rex knows that our pets are our family members and cares for them with kindness and concern. It is difficult to find a vet who has the level of experience, honesty and passion that Dr. Rex has. I have finally,after some arduous searching, found a wonderful veterinarian in Bend, Oregon. My kitty, Bella, was plagued with digestive difficulties. We three different animal clinics around town. Each veterinarian requested some pretty darned expensive testing, much to the dismay of my wallet. Yet, despite elaborate lab work and several courses of medication, poor Bella was no better. Our neighbor recommended Dr. Rex W. Urich right here in Bend. We were told that Dr. Urich's billing rates were very reasonable and that his level of expertise was exceptional.Dr. Rex outlined a detailed regime including a modified feeding schedule, new foods, etc. He even called our home TWICE to follow up on Bella's condition!!! I know....hard to believe. But, it's true! And, the best part of my story...Bella is feeling great, and we have found a very competent and compassionate doctor to serve the medical needs of our pets.
