The Community Development Department is managed by Deschutes County in Oregon. The department manages a building safety division that issues commercial, residential, septic, and electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits. It also operates a current planning division that handles individual land use applications. The Community Development Department administers an on-site program that provides wastewater treatment and dispersal solutions for homes, as well as protects groundwater aquifers.
