DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO AFFORDABLE PET CLINIC OFF OF PAIRS ISLAND GATEWAY, THE OLDER VET DR. SMITH, IF YOU CAN CALL HIM A DOCTOR IS AN ANIMAL KILLER!
My friend took a 13 week old puppy to them for the third round of booster shots. The puppy had a hair lip and the vet said there was something stuck in it. He had the vet tech hold the puppy while he tried to clean it out. The puppy began to struggle, they let the puppy rest for second then continued. The puppy this time peed and pooped on the table while struggling yet the vet continued until the puppy started vomited, stopped breathing and then died. They asked my in laws if they wanted the dog cremated, while they were still in shock. When I went to the office the next day to confront the vet he was cold and showed no remorse. When I told him I was reporting in him to the licensing board and an attorney, he then said he couldn't release the body of the dog until he took pictures. When asked why he didn't do that before freezing the dog, he stated well the dog was to be cremated but now with legal matters being taken he needs to take pictures. The vet through out the whole encounter was cold and showed no empathy. I told him that he should not be in practice if he doesn't understand animals. When asked why he did what he did, the vet could give no answers nor any apologies. The vet kept repeating that the puppy had a cleft palate. The puppy had no cleft palate, he had a hair lip which was not causing any issue other than cosmetic.

You may have a wait time with Dr. Smith Sr., but it is only that he is taking time and caring for every pet he sees. Comfort, kindness and expertise are worth waiting for.

Thankfully Doctor's Bob and Andrew Smith have not changed the prices since our dear Dr. Winters retired, true to the clinic's name they remain the cheapest prices in town. Also I've found that both Doctors are very good and I feel good about the care that my pets get when I have to take them. My only complaint is that if you end up getting an appointment with the older Dr. Smith (Robert) you will without fail find yourself waiting. I don't think I've been there yet and been made to wait if the appointment is with Dr. Robert, he definitely needs more time inbetween appointments. If I lose more time out of work it defeats the low prices! It's quite chaotic and it's obvious the docs need a good manager to lead them. Hopefully they will listen and not lose what Dr. Winter created.
