I went to st.chris for an addiction problem and this was my first time in any kind of treatment. I am not a kid however most of the patients are, usually 18-20 and the patients around me were horrible to live with for 30days. It seemed to me that much of the staffs energy was spent reprimanding bad behavior. anyone considering st.christophers also must understand that this is a private business and the most important aspect of your treatment, in their eyes, is financial. I can understand this mentality to an extent, however I think they take it too far. For example, each and every patient is referred to their extended stay program with can last up to 12 months and if someone is attending the program due to court requirements the court follows the recommendation of the addiction counselor. Very few people can set every aspect of their life down for 12 months and spend $75,000 for treatment.

Now the truth is, all rehabs have the same issues that St.chris deals with however St.Chris's has an ace up their sleeve that makes them the best rehab in the area by a long shot. Very simply they hired a 5 star chef that puts out stellar food every day. Eating was such an important aspect of my steint in captivity. As you can imagine it's very depressing, boring and sobering in rehab. The excitement of eating the next freshly prepared meal actually kept me engaged in my treatment. The chefs name is Kieth Bayard and not only can he cook, he is a hell of a counselor and an expert in recovery (he's been there, done that, got the t-shirt). His knowledge of AA trumps that of even the most senior counselors. In closing, I would recommend St.Christophers to my friends and family however if the food sucked it would be just another rehab with nothing special.

St. Christopher's saved my son's life. It is a safe, well staffed facility to help in getting your loved one on the right track. My son agreeing to seek treatment was a step in the right direction but choosing the best facility from the many choices was a very hard decision. The staff and the therapists are caring and well trained. My son was admitted due to alcohol and drug abuse, but ultimately they found these issues to be the result of an underlying long term mental health problem. He was treated for these issues as well as receiving treatment for the substance abuse. He is a much happier and well adjusted person now. He spent two months at the facility. St, Chris is not perfect, but for my son's needs it was wonderful. I recommend STC especially if your loved one has dual issues, mental as well as addiction. Be careful as many of the facilities we checked out focus on just the addiction issues and do not address the mental health issues that could be the underlying problem.

We were in a major crisis with our son and faced what we thought to be a life or death situation. We did multiple searches on the internet, spoke to addiction experts and our physician and all kept saying St. Christophers. We spoke with Stephen in admissions and he was very helpful. He explained all available options to us to go to St. Christopher's. I have to admit the out of pocket costs were shocking! We took a chance and followed all recommendations of the staff. We learned so much about our son's illness, we learned what our part was in keeping him sick, and we all learned what we needed to do to get better. I think St. Christophers has changed us forever!! We are a functional family for the first time ever and we owe it all to St. Christophers

The counselors here were very kind, and genuinely seemed interested in helping our son, HOWEVER, the financial side of this facility is ATROCIOUS. The reviewer "bs" on rehabs.com was correct in that they are ONLY about your $$. Our son had multiple mental health issues and not doing well, and they were happy to get rid of him as soon as we weren't paying anymore due to us wanting them to seek reimbursement from ins. This facility turned out to ONLY be about the $$ and that is most important to them. Though we liked the counselors and their caring nature, they have yet to ONCE inquire as to our son's well being after they kicked him out. We wiped out our ENTIRE SAVINGS between this facility and one other, and it was all for NOTHING because as soon as the $ was out, they were done. No wonder so many teens and adults are dying from drug/alcohol abuse. Who can afford to get their loved ones help, and all the while these facilities are RAKING in the money. It makes me physically sick.

Exceptional Experience

I had the opportunity to participate in the Treatment Experience at St. Christopher's. When I arrived, I was beaten and battered by my addictions. St. Christopher's gave me a loving environment and the tools to recover. The treatment experience with the staff and the program philosophy was exceptional. Having been through other programs with no success, I was skeptical. Today I am truly living a life worth living!!!
