I had a VERY unpleasant experience with Tony's Pizza. My 70 year-old father called in a pizza for pick-up: half Hawaiian, half peperoni. He picked it up and brought it back to our home in Rio Bravo, and we discovered that they forgot to put pineapple on the Hawaiian side. Now, this was not that big of a deal, but I did want to call and let them know. I had no intention of driving all the way back into town to have them make a new pizza, but I assumed an offer of half off on our next order or free drinks would be offered to us. I told the problem to the gal who answered the phone, and to my dismay, she ARGUED with me. "No he didn't (father who called in)....HE said canadian bacon only." No, I told her, he said Hawaiian. "NO...He said canadian bacon." And she puts me on hold. For a loooooooong time. So long, that I assumed she hung up. I called back and the same gal I had just talked to said "The owner is right here, and he said we will remake it if you bring it back, but you have to bring it back now." I did not want to drive back, as I was not close by, I explained. "If he is willing to make another pizza, what is the difference between doing it now or at another time," I asked her. She puts me on hold again, and the "owner" gets on the phone. I explain to him that I am all the way out in Rio Bravo, and would like to use the offer another time. This is when he goes on to tell me that he "doesn't know who I am," and I could be "sitting around and doing this sort of thing all day" for all he knows. "Do you REALLY think that a 70 year-old man is running some kind of a pizza scam?" I asked him. "Well, I don't know that you're not," he says.

This is where not only customer service comes in, but common sense. My parents are (were) regular, loyal customers that are both in their 70's. Would they REALLY be spending their days scamming business owners out of free pizza?

To be honest, I would have been perfectly happy with just an apology from the gal who answered the phone. I would have been impressed had they offered me a discount on a future order, free drinks, or an ice cream cone on my next visit. But to offer to remake the pizza right then, then question my honesty and imply that I am "scamming" them when I decline, is totally unacceptable. It suffices to say that I will never patronize this business again.
