I used Scott's Performance to finish the rebuild on a motor that he had previously worked on. I also used them for the installation. I do not recommend Scotts Performance for rebuilding or installing a motor in a custom car for the following reasons. 1) I was told the motor would take 2 months and it took about 1 year to get done. 2) The custom metallic paint job was chipped and they did not advise me of the chip when the car was picked up. 3) Had several oil leaks. Once I brought these leaks to their attention, they would not fix the oil leaks (oil pan, transmission oil pan, power steering leak from his custom made fitting & valve cover) no warranty. 4) They pulled the motor vertically up (not out of the car) to replace a leaky rear rope main seal. 5) I replaced all oil seals and stopped all leaks and asked for $500 to cover some of my expenses. They refused to pay. They do not stand behind there work. The leaks happened immediately when I got the car home.

I used Scott’s Performance to finish the rebuild on a motor that he had previously worked on.

3) They improperly Installed cheap cork gaskets which created oil leaks. Silicone was not used as recommended by manufacturers. Other possibilities for the oil leaks higher torque used on bolts than what is specified. Once I brought these leaks to their attention, they would not fix the oil leaks (oil pan, transmission oil pan, power steering leak from his custom made fitting & valve cover).

4) They pulled the motor vertically up (not out of the car) to replace the rear rope main seal which had been installed incorrectly. He had mentioned that he could not find a better gasket, so I supplied the vitron main seal which stopped the leak.

5) After dropping the oil pan to replace the rear main seal, he did not use a new gasket with silicone. The original one had no silicone installed.

6) The power steering hose fitting he made and installed leaked.

8) I was told to tighten the oil pan fittings which did not fix the problem. I also started using silicone, making metal reinforcing plates and silicone which did not fix the leaks.

9) Scotts Performance would not fix the problems, stating that it was not under warranty.

10) Valve cover also had 1 oil leak.

All oil leaks were present when the car was brought home and I mentioned to Scotts Performance. I was so frustrated after spending several hours trying to fix the oil leaks. The leaks would not have been there if the proper gaskets were used and installed correctly. I had to purchase all new oil pans, gaskets (not cork), and remove his power steering custom fitting with a concaved copper washer. I also paid for removal of the motor to install a 1 piece oil pan gasket. All fluids had to be replaced.

I asked for $500 to recover some of my expenses and Scotts performance refused to pay.
