Originally constructed as the Traveler's Rest Hotel in 1851, this restored building is one of the oldest frame houses in the Sierra Foothills. The garden, vineyard and outbuilding provide an authentic setting for living history programs and family outings. The complex also houses a commercial winery.

We've explored here a few times on our own and on field trips. Great little piece of history here in Auburn.

This was such an amazing field trip! Not only does it tie into what the third-graders are learning in their curriculum it is an excellent way for them to learn about local history!

My son went on a 3rd grade field trip and he had so much fun!! Everyone dressed up and the grown ups all had stations where they taught the history of how life was on the "Bernhard" farm. My son thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

Fun, old home to learn what it's like in the olden days. They do really great school field trips. If you just go visit, you don't get to do as much as on the field trips. You just have a guided tour of the home.

Picturesque Old West Museum. The kids had a field trip here they were required to dress up as Pioneers . The adults chaperoning also had to dress up and it was quite fun. The pictures look darling. They set up stations a laundry, plow the field, making fruit boxes, washing clothes and churning butter. I highly recommend this museum .
