My nephew a patient of Dr. Berman's who has alcohol and substance problems which are well documented. Still knowing this Dr. Berman has over prescribed him addictive benzoid's. This is the very LAST thing someone with a addictive behavior needs. He has misused his medication and was still given more long before he should have received anymore. Because of this his behavior has spiraled out of control and is now homeless.

My nephew definetly needed a in-patient program but Dr. Berman suggested otherwise! Patients BEWAREof this Doctor! The one star rating attached was only put on in order to get this posted. In my opinion she should not have a license.

Initial visit was today at 2pm. I arrived 15 minutes early in anticipation of filling out paperwork. I fill out my paperwork and I'm asked to pee in a cup. I've been treated for over ten years by psychiatrists and have never been asked to pee in a cup. I reluctantly do so and take a seat in the waiting area.
After 45 minutes I ask the lady next to me "Are they usually behind like this?" and she replies with "At least an hour or more wait each time I come here. Sometimes I just get up and leave." I then ask the receptionist if I can reschedule my appointment and all of a sudden I can be seen by the doctor.
i go into the doctors office and take a seat. Five minutes later the receptionist comes in and apologizes that she was wrong and someone was in front of me. I then tell the receptionist I need to reschedule as it's going on an hour and fifteen minutes past my initial appointment time. She informs me that there is always at least an hour wait or more to be seen. i ask if I come first thing in the morning would I be seen right away and she informs me that that's not the case and I would have to still wait at least an hour. I then inform her that they had better not bill my insurance as I was never seen by the doctor. She tells me they will not. We will see tomorrow when I call my insurance.

I like Dr. Berman a lot. The only thing I don't like is that it is at least an hr. wait so I always bring a really good long book.
The waiting room is not the greatest and the chairs can be uncomfortable. I think she knows her stuff and she is caring.
I have depression and bipolar. She is a very positive person
about getting better and she makes you do your part in recovery.

If you are a patient that is looking to hop doctor to doctor in hopes of finding someone that will recklessly prescribe anything you want, this is not the place for you.

-If you are looking for a place to take advantage of, continue to stay on illicit drugs and STILL get prescriptions for your medication, this is not the place for you.

-If you truly want to get help for your addiction or your psychological problems and you want to be seen by a doctor that is going to hold you accountable, than this is the place for you.

-If you truly want a doctor that actually cares if her patients get better, this is the place for you.

This practice has literally saved my life. I don't know what I would have done or where I would be in my life if I didn't get the help I needed. The only difference between me and someone that failed here is I actually wanted to get better.

BEWARE OF THIS MD. !!!!!!!!! One star ONLY to get this post up. This MD. overprescribes a multitude of medications which are know to be contraindicated to be taken together. Prescribed 7 different medications all which counteract each other is a drug addicts dream come true. BUT, to loved ones having to watch their addict go from seeking professional help to almost a vegetable stupor is an agonizing process. Can't sleep? she'll prescribe a benzodiazipam, No energy? she'll prescribe you adderal. Confused? she'll prescribe you an anti depressant and Neurontin. As good addicts do, add the alcohol and maybe a little cocaine, with no fear of the faulty urine tests and what do you get??? A shell of your loved one in a stupor on a bathroom floor with broken beer bottle as the carpet. Request consultation with Dr Berman keeping in mind the sanctity of HIPA laws and what do you get? Ignored and with no response. My question is this; will the quack Berman be attending my loved ones funeral that she is an accomplice in causing??? NO she will hide behind her malpractice insurance and the mistake of a license that someone asleep on the medical licensure board gave her. FOR SHAME Dr. berman. I'm actually going back to back to her next month because she is a really a smart psychiatrist and I've had about ten, none of them match up to her expertise. She friendly and cute too! But the woman definitely knows what she's doing and I like how she drug tests before each appt, it makes sure ur taking ur meds n that ur not taking any substances like coke heroin and she will discharge u. But not over pot. She might get strict with u and tell u it's that or klonopin. And then she will test u again and if it shows up again, she will taper u off it or just put u on a .5mg bid. She gets strict with drugs. Because thats what she specializes in.... And she doesn't like the pot showing up but shes not going to kick u out over ONLY that, but she's the best md psych in mass
