You can look at a gauge and see how much fuel you have in your tank, you can check your oil with a dip-stick but your after-treatment system doesn’t have much to say until you have a problem. Yes, a re-gen can solve your soot issue temporarily but pretty soon that trusty re-gen stops working and you start seeing those ugly dash lights. If you don’t do something quick, your truck de-rates to limp mode and you have a really bad day as your hustle grinds to a halt.
