The church has occupied a site in the middle of Athens since it was organized in 1809 by the first president of Ohio University, Jacob Lindley. Presbyterians played a vital role in the development of the city and the university. Four of the first five presidents of the university were Presbyterian pastors."Godspell" under the direction of Athens First Presbyterian choir director, David Tadlock, will open on July 30th Athens First Presbyterian Church in downtown Athens. This amazing, inspirational show, focusing on the parables of Jesus Christ, will be presented on July 30th, 31st, August 6th and 7th at 7: 30 pm, and August 1st and 8th at 2 pm.
