I am an honest person and appreciate when other people are honest. In short I would NOT recommend Jeff Cox for a landscaper. I wish I had seen the bad review sent by another one of Jeff Cox’s clients before I hired him. I have been very disappointed as I trusted Jeff and thought he would do a good job and honor his word. However, I am very disappointed in the way Jeff Cox has done business with me.

To give you an example, one of my very expensive pine trees has died soon after Jeff and his crew planted it. I made Jeff sign a contract stating that if any plants died within the first growing season, he would be liable and replace them. Within two months after planting the tree it started to die. Wanting to take care of this right away, I tried to reach out to Jeff so he would be aware of this.

To my dismay, when I tried to reach him, his phone was disconnected. Even his former foreman told me that he no longer works for him and he doesn’t know how to get in touch with him. Not only did he have his phone number and original email address changed but also his place of business doesn’t exist. I found this out when I made the effort to look him up in person. Arriving at the business address I found the name of a different company altogether. Wanting to try all options, I not only emailed Jeff my concerns to his websites, but also sent him a letter to his assumed address. I have never received a response.

Bottom line, Jeff Cox is untrustworthy and does not honor his word. I would NOT recommend Jeff Cox because I don’t want anyone else to get ripped off!

What an absolute nightmare!

The owner of Better Landscapes, Jeffrey Cox, represents everything that is unprofessional in business. There was little to no communication throughout the process. He would not answer calls, texts or emails from us or his own sub-contractors. He even changed his cell number and told no one.

We had a stamped and stained patio put in our backyard by one of his sub-contractors. When the patio was complete and the sub was owed his money, Jeff was nowhere to be found. The sub was then threatening to file a mechanics lien against our home.

We then attempted to contact him in person at his place of business. We were told by a neighboring business that he disappeared several months prior because he owed a lot of people money and even some of his own employees had gone to the Department of Labor.

The concrete sub-contractor took it upon himself to show up at Jeff's home unexpectedly, demanded money from a prior job that he was not paid for and gave Jeff two days to complete work on our backyard or he was going to take legal action. There were no apologies or explanations when he finally contacted us (through email).

The guy is a d*ck... he included concrete dump fees when the concrete from a broken up stoop was buried in the soil underneath the new patio. He charged a 36% markup on the patio even though he said that he used an "industry standard" 33%. There is no such thing as an industry standard. Also, he has refused to include the 10% discount that is advertised on his company web site.

After confronting him on price and his lack of communication, a small job has turned into months of little to no progress. We now have pooling of water in our backyard because the soil was not graded properly and a palette of unused dying sod that he has not picked up and is charging us for.

Avoid this scammer at all costs!
