It was time to update our old ...

It was time to update our old home's heating and cooling system. We opted for a forced air heating and cooling system. I opened up my phone book and called all the air conditioning contractors in the phone book and made as many appointments as I could to get estimates and meet the people that would be doing the work for me.

Out of the four companies I called, Patrick, owner of Advantage Heating and Cooling was the only one that showed up on time and prepared. He had me fill out a form that included questions about my needs, hottest/coldest rooms, allergies, and a number of other topics. He made some recommendations and explained them to me. I asked a number of questions that were satisfactorily answered.

My experience with the other three companies I called:

One company gave me a really high quote almost double what Patrick (from Advantage) had quoted me. I had to lend them my ladder so that they could inspect the roof. If they foresaw the need to use a ladder, they should probably bring that along with their other tools.

One company showed up late and never got back to me with the quote as they promised. I figured if they couldn’t go through with the quote, then they probably couldn’t go through with the job.

The third company was about $1500 less expensive than what Patrick had quoted, but when I called back (two weeks later) they claimed a new law had gone into effect that required a more expensive type of ducting, which made this company’s quote right about the same price as Patrick’s. I did some research and found that this law wasn’t going to go into effect until June (It was January). I felt he was just mad that I didn’t get back to him right away with my decision. I thanked him for his time and decided that his ethical values or lack thereof differed from mine. Thank you but no thank you.

Patrick completed the job quickly and professionally, just like he completed the quote. About a month ago, the circuit breaker switch for my dryer was turning itself off. (He hired contractors to update my electrical system, as well). I called Misty, his wife, and later that afternoon Patrick had sent a couple of his employees to check it out and fix it, at no cost to me. (This was probably about eight months after the original work was done.) I am completely satisfied with his work and the temperature in my home feels perfect. This was the best home update decision I made and I am glad I picked the right people to do it.

Thank you Advantage Heating and Cooling!
