unhelpful and unprofessional

We had a water leak that was coming up through our floorboards. Our best guess was that it was originating in the wall behind our washing machine. We moved the washer out and although the floor itself was dry, the sheetrock at the bottom near the pipes was wet. We ran the faucets that provide water to the machine and could not detect a leak so we decided to call out a plumber and rely on their expertise to determine the cause of the leak. Unfortunately, we called Patrick with Area Plumbers.

When Patrick arrived I explained where the water was coming up and showed him where we thought the leak was. We had removed the wet sheetrock but I told him where it had been wet and that we had not been able to find a leak so far. Patrick turned on the faucets, let them run for awhile, told me he could not see a leak and was ready to leave. When I asked him where he thought the water could have come from he said that maybe the drain pipe for the washer had a hole in it or had come loose from the wall. When I said that didn't make sense because the floor under the washer had been dry and the only sheetrock that was wet was down at the bottom he told me that water on the floor would make its way over to the wall and that "water liked to climb sheetrock". When I again asked for a cause for the leak he replied that he ran the faucets "and didn't SEE any water."

I was still uncomfortable with his assessment so after he left I called him back and asked if there was a toll that could be used to determine the cause of the leak. He told me NO.

Still unconfortable with his assessment and unwilling to turn the faucets back on yet for fear of further damage to our floors I decided to call another plumber. I explained the inital problem and what Patrick at Area Plumbers had done and his assessment. The second plumber was shocked that Patrick didn't even take the time to check our water meter!! He told me several things that could be done and told me that there ARE tools that can be used to detect a leak!

This morning I called Area Plumbers back and asked who the owner was. It is Patrick but he refused to tell me. Instead he wanted to know why I was calling. I explained that I was dissatisfied with his service and that I would like a refund because of this. He flatly refused. When I explained that I would then have no option but to file a complaint against him he was unconcerned.

I write this review to warn you to use Patrick and Area Plumbers at your own risk! He did not perform the tasks that he should have to determine the cause of our leak and is completely unconcerned about the satisfaction of his customers. One last note.....he has never offered to come back out and try to make us satisfied either.

Great Service - Fair Price

I called 8 other plumbing companies and they had the best rates. I needed then to run a camera for roots in my pipes and replace a toilet, They were on time as sceduled and there were no hidden fees. They did a good job for a fair price. I will use again.
