First Alarm was established in 1966 by Jarl Saal as a security company providing the Santa Cruz, Calif., area with private security services under the name of Seascape Security. First Alarm provides fire and burglar alarms, hold-up and panic alarms, power interruption signals, temperature and other industrial equipment alerts, daily test signals, opening and closing signals, and a variety of trouble and supervisory signals. First Alarm employs nearly 450 people and has been nationally recognized as one of the largest security companies in the United States. The company has locations throughout California. Its headquarters are in Aptos, Calif.
