I love teaching parents about their children’s current conditions, what to expect, and what treatment options they have. I like to give patients and their families choices whenever possible. Very little of what we do is black and white, and my approach reflects that. I like to explain what is happening and what treatment options make sense, and help the family feel comfortable with a plan they understand. I did my pediatrics rotation in medical school only because it was required, but it turned out I loved it. There is no field of medicine that is happier or more fun than pediatrics. The things kids do and say make me laugh every single day. The best moments are when babies smile and laugh, when toddlers and kindergarteners say the things they say, and seeing sick kids get well.
