At the conclusion of the Second Seminole War, the U.S. Congress passed the Armed Occupation Act of 1842, forcing surviving natives at Ahapopka to abandon their village and seek refuge deeper in the wilderness of the Florida peninsula. The early American settlers built a major trading center on the foundations of the earlier Indian settlement. Their population was large enough by 1857 to support the establishment of a Masonic lodge. In 1859 the lodge erected a permanent meeting place at what is now the intersection of Main Street (U.S. Highway 441) and Alabama Avenue. Argos Family Diner is only a hop, skip and a jump away from that historical intersection. Be sure to stop in and you will find some of the best breakfasts, lunches and dinners in town.At the conclusion of the Second Seminole War, the U.S. Congress passed the Armed Occupation Act of 1842, forcing surviving natives at Ahapopka to abandon their village and seek refuge deeper in the wilderness of the Florida peninsula. I was the senior employee of A...

I was the senior employee of Argo's. I was well liked by the customer's and had my following. Unfortunately I had an accident and injured my back in January of 2010. They continued to let me work while on heavy medication and Narcotics without calling in sick for my back. I had scheduled Doctor's appointments every 2 weeks that I requested in advance. But, I continued to do my job proficiently and precise. I consider myself a very friendly, efficient and experienced waitress. I've been in the field for 26 years. Well....January 10th 2011, I had back surgery to fix my back. I was out for a few weeks, and when I returned with a Doctor's note with a few limitations for a few weeks until I was stronger, George, the owner, threw it on the counter and turned his back on me. I called his wife later that evening to see what my schedule would be for the next week. And, she told me that she didn't understand the doctor's note. Granted, I know they are Greek. But, it was written in plain English. She told me that she had to speak to the surgeon PERSONALLY before putting me back on the schedule! I gave her all the numbers I had. But, she always got a nurse when she called, she told me. Well, I had my surgery in South Florida, and even I can't personally reach the surgeon by phone! That's ridiculous. So, in the end, The wonderful owner's of "Argo's Family Diner" forced me out and to look for another job. That goes to show that things aren't always what they appear from the customer's view. The owner's curse and humiliate the employees in the back of the restaurant. The cook goes outside between orders and smokes and returns to cooking without washing his hands! I know this, because I witnessed it every day. They are just plain ole greedy Greeks trying to make themselves look good by kissing the customer's a--. But, as you can see, the employee that worked the hardest and through alot of pain and mistreatment, got the boot in the end. I have no respect for the family or the Restaurant. I hope that Karma comes back and gets them in a way that they deserve.

For my old friends and customers, I miss you.

service by server

I was there the other day and the food was good BUT the server was horrible. Karma is rude, nasty, mean spirited.

She had no patience with us, being our first time at this restaurant she was in a hurry and busy on her cell phone texting someone and getting angry which made her angry with us. She look like she was high on drugs. Maybe for such a nice place you need to get a better class of servers.
