We contacted Mr. Ken Platt of Advanced Moving Service (aka Team Movers, FL license FM185) regarding a household move from Apopka, FL to The Villages, FL that took place in May 2016.
When the move was delayed by a week, Mr Platt agreed to store our furniture for the week at a cost of $525.00. He personally recommended storage on his truck to save money. He neglected to tell us that his truck had a leak in it. This leak caused considerable damage to our furnishings including heavy water stains to two new memory foam mattresses. We were not informed of the risks of the “on truck” storage.
Mr Platt also neglected to inform us that the temperature in the truck would exceed 100 degrees and would ruin any food stuffs stored within as well as the finish on some furniture. I certainly believe this omission to be a breach of fiduciary responsibility.
Despite our selling off more than 25% of the furniture seen by Mr Platt at the time of estimate, and despite moving a truck load of cartons on our own, the truck provided did not have enough space to properly load our furnishings. Many wooden furniture items were packed with only cellophane wrap and no blanket protection. This also resulted in considerable negligent damage.
I believe that the storage in a leaking truck was gross negligence and goes beyond standard insurance claims.
Since the company only offered standard insurance of $.60 per pound, Mr Platt sent us a settlement check for $128.00. This is woefully insufficient since the handling and storage was negligent and therefore the damage was well beyond reasonable expectations.

The cost of the move wad actually less than the estimate! The workers were professional, courteous and careful. Highly recommended!

I recently moved from Orlando to Lake Mary. I was extremely pleased with the service they provided. The men who moved me were courteous and professional. They finished the job faster than anticipated and their rates were Very reasonable. Two thumbs up!
