Can'tcontrolwhatotherparishionerssay

Wherever you go there is always someone who has a complaint about something. The presider announcements say please turn off cell phones at the beginning of the mass. I am confident that a priest did not ask someone to leave because of this. A priest also would never refuse communion to a child that has celebrated the right to receive communion. They bless many children here who have not celebrated this sacrament. The priests at this parish are amoungst the top in this area. Unfortunately you cannot control the gossipher and the constant complainers. The outreach and friendliness of the catholic community here is a place where I want to enrich my spiritual life.

My family and I go here regularly and participate in their parrish events. We have met many nice people and made lots of great friendships. We really enjoy the warmth of the parrish.

Great Place

We moved to this part of the twin cities a few years ago. We tried 4 different churches before we got to St Stephen. We love it. The priests are very good (with 2 that are absolutely great). The parish is friendly and active.Great place.

To: upset

Lucky it wasn't my family member's funeral...Leave the phone in the car. No reason to bring it in with you. If you can't be responsible enough to leave it in the car or turn it off, maybe you shouldn't have one. Harsh, I know, but I agree with the priest here. Why give the benefit of the doubt? So what if it was a mistake? You failed.

Unfriendly

Asking a devote catholic to leave a funeral service because she accidentally forgot to turn off her cell phone is inexcusable. The priest also refused communion to one of her children who did what she was supposed to do to receive the communion. They state--"Hospitality, warmth and friendly reception are high priorities around here--- Guess what, this person doesn't think so. She is ashamed she was asked to leave--Shame on you, give a person the benifit of the doubt and let them apologize to the family, not punish them yourself!
