I saw a job being done by Barry. I was going to give him a call but looking at the previous reviews, decided not too. An example of - you have to go wrong just once to ruin your business.

I agree with the prior review. I signed a contract to do a modest kitchen renovation - some new additional cabinets and countertops - last August. The making of the cabinets (by a woodworker he recommended) took an excessive amount of time, but I excused this as beyond his control; but even when they were delivered it was several months before he came to install them. That took parts of two days and was not completed; he promised to finish the work and to install granite counters shortly thereafter. I had bought and paid for the granite. Since then nothing has been done, although I have paid him more than 2/3 of the agreed price. He has failed to tell me who has the granite slab I purchased. I have tried repeatedly to reach him by phone and email and received no response. The little work he has done has been competent. I don’t know whether he is simply disorganized and overcommitted or whether he is deliberately deceptive.

My wife and I hired this company to frame a dormer to our small cape, reshingle the roof and vinyl side the house. They began by taking the roof on on the eve of a huge rainstorm after I suggested that it wouldn't be a good idea. This led to us losing all of the ceilings in our house as well as other personal belongings. Then they had the nerve to ask for more money to fix the damage they caused! A 3 week job turned into over 3 months! They (1 person) would sometimes only show up for a half a day or two a week, and even after pleading with him to get the roof back on they left my home covered with a tarp through several more rain storms. All this and I would see their trucks parked at other job sites! The work they did do was very poor. Headers above windows and doors were not close to level, not to mention the ceiling rafters! Anybody with common sense could tell the work was not professional. The windows were not properly flashed which led to recent water damage as well. Beware of the owner Brian. He seems like a trusting person but he was very dishonest and took advantage of us. If I could do it again I definitely would NOT hire these people. I would hate to see anyone else go through our experience. I advise that you do your homework and hire someone you know you can trust, stay away from Barry Fine Homes and Renovations.
