My family has had great experiences with this practice before as my father has had multiple surgeries here and I have my own back issues as well.Dr. Rosenbaum and the staff were wonderful, got me in on short notice and were very polite. Dr. Rosenbaum answered every question I had and was quite thorough in explaining my condition and treatments, will be using this practice again in the future.Wait time was less than 30 minutes between front desk and in the room, which is nothing compared to some offices I've been in.

This was absolutely the most mismanaged office I have ever been to. The surgeon, Dr. Tolbert was 3 1/2 late for my surgery to start. My family waited without ONE WORD WHY he was so late. The day before he said 0900, then showed up at 1420! Never saw him again until 6 weeks after major surgery. On call Dr. Bernard saw me for <10 min. and I was discharged the next day WITHOUT seeing any Dr. I was sent home with wrong discharge instructions.
The office manager, Donna, called me "a liar" on the phone!! She told me they were "short staffed" and she was too "busy" to deal with my questions. Rude & arrogant reflect the staff mantra---taking their lead from the Dr.s.
DO NOT use this group!!! I am filing complaints.

You are so right. This office staff is rude and inefficient. The surgeons don't care about listening to the patient. They think they know so why spend any time with the patient. Doesn't answer questions.
Find another group or go outside for ANY neurosurery.

No problems with the doctors at this clinic, but we only saw Dr. Tolbert twice...so who knows? He seems like a pretty nice fellow. It is the behavior of his "medical assistant" Cory and the front office staff that caused me to fire him and seek another neurosurgeon. My husband was told he needed to have some nerve block injections at the pain clinic and the front office would send the referral the next day. It took them over a week to contact the pain center and they lied about that. With spinal fractures and compressions, the pain is not minimal, but the policy that "we don't prescribe pain meds until after surgery" was followed by the suggestion that we ask our primary doc for a prescription. That doc is not treating this condition, so why should he try to decide what meds are needed? When Dr. Tolbert became the treating physician it became HIS responsibility to oversee the care and comfort of my husband. Also...when the new neurosurgeon requested my husband's records from these horrible women, they refused the request because they claimed that they did not have a POA on file. Another lie. That paperwork was part of the initial new patient package. Our primary physician now feels terrible about referring this clinic because he had heard from others how rude and inept the staff is at Anchorage Neurosurgical. I don't want to be pampered, but I expect respect and truthfulness. My advice for anyone checking this clinic out is to run the other way. There are other neurosurgical offices in Anchorage that have highly skilled physicians AND caring, friendly personnel. No one needs to settle for this kind of treatment from ANYONE, least of all a medical doctor.
