Miserable Man

A friend of mine ask me if I could recommend a place where he could get 4 tires for his truck. We both live in Weirton. Since I didnt know the number I looked it up on yellow pages. I noticed that there was 1 review. Being a curious person I read it and saw that the person gave 1 star. now my friend will probably end up getting tires in Weirton because the savings dont justify the distance to drive, but not because of the review. I have done business with Laney Tire several times over the years and will continue. Upon further investigation I found that the persoin who gave the bad review had give several other reviews and all were bad. They all had 1 common theme. He is just a miserable person. I find it hard to believe that no matter what or where this person goes he is always treated unfairly. He would probably have a little more credibility if he had at least a couple of good reviews mixed in. As I've said I have patronized Laney Tire several times over the years and never had a bad experience, I am not naive enough to think that some people havent had any bad experiences at Laney's but I would take anything that the reviewer mentioned with a grain of salt. Some people just never have anything good to say about anyone.

Wrongfully done ripped off

I bought 4 BF Goodrich tires for from kevin laney. The tires have a 65,000 mile rating.I had them one year 25,000 normal miles and there done. Rotated them every 5,000 had a lined-up everything checked OK. He told me that I could pay for road hazzard. He added it in with the tires and wrote it on one of the invoice`s and switched the invoice he wrote on and gave me the duplicate one folded said he gave me a good deal.I called and asked how the road hazzard was and he said we dont have that coverage.I said it was in the quote you gave me he said was it written down and I looked at the invoice and it wasnt there he switched and folded it gave me the other one when I wasnt paying attention.I was had. So look at your invoice and read it carefully and dont give it back so he can take you.The tires must have been from china and he doesnt back any warranty or even do line-ups. They should close down for unsafe automobile being uncertified mechanics repair. They don`t even torque alumium wheels. This causes damage to them. Line-up, inspection, it should be done for saftey reasons. If was you I go to the professionals they cost a bit more but it`s done properly and will save you in the long run.

Hello, my name is Randy Byron. As the new owner of Laney Tire, I would first like to sincerely apologize for your experience. But please allow me to point out a few more things wrong with what happened. First off, For any type of warranty to have taken effect, you would have had to been given a pamphlet containing all of your warranty information. Mr. Laney would have been required to write down the Dot codes from all 4 tires, as well as your mileage on the vehicle on the day of the installation. Second off, Your BFGoodrich Tires most likey did not come from china. I believe the tires you might be referring to are the Control Plus, which indeed do have a 65,000 mile treadwear warranty, and are manufactured in the USA. Third, The BfGoodrich tires you bought do have a free road hazard warranty. The problem is Road hazard only covers punctures of other occurences that would make the tire irrepairable. Road Hazard has nothing to do with mileage. Moving on to the Alignment concern,Mr. Laney never showed interest in doing alignments, for unknown reasons, but, as i said before, I am the new owner and we are currently working towards a high quality alignment machine. Also, there is nothing unsafe about how we do not "torque" aluminum wheels. We use Ingersoll Rand Impact Guns that have six different torque settings already on them. The minimum torque setting is 65 ft. Lbs, and the maximum is 165. We torque most common vehicles to 90-95 lb ft, which is plenty tight, but in no way will that cause damage to your vehicle. As far as inspection of your vehicle, we are not responsible for that. We leave full vehicle inspections to the shops that do that as thier normal service. No sense stealing buisiness from the hardwoking auto repair technicians. However, we WILL point out any potential problems if we see any, or if you simply ask us to look. Im sure you are still a bit sore at my shop, and I do sincerely apologize, but I felt the need to try and help you understand. If you would be willing to give it a second try, I can make it right. Thank you.
