This place has high-calorie food that appears to be tasty but killer. Once I got stale Chicken-Tikka masala as takeout that I simply had to trash. Chef is arrogant and does not take criticism in stride. Restaurant has poor ventilation. There are some good dishes that are worth trying. I always tell indian-restaurant goers if food is cheap, don't expect miracles. If you haven't exposed to good indian food in any of the metropolitan cities in US, you may find this place probably OK. However, if you have microwave or regular oven at home, you are better off trying frozen indian food. Tandoor Chef and Deep are reputable brands to give you satisfaction that exceeds any of the indian restaurants here in Ames and probably also in Des Moines.

I was visiting a friend in Ames and decided to try Indian food here. This place has really slow service. It took them 10 minutes to get us some water. The menu options are quite scarce. The food portions are very small for the price you pay. Side dish of chana masala and a full order of malai kofta curry are exactly same in quantity. The regular naan is a store bought frozen naan deep fried to death. When I spoke to the manager about the portions, he was thoroughly condescending and told us and I quote, "The portions are set by my business, my expenses and this is what you will get. If you feel the portions are small, all I can do is suggest that you order more. I can't do anything else." I have never met a more arrogant restaurant owner before. The food was decent in taste which I had mentioned to him before his rant.



The chef will surely come out and ask you if everything is well but rest assured he will not be able to take any criticism.



I have had Indian food in many restaurants over the country but have yet to see such small portions and rudeness of the owner.



In conclusion, I shall never set foot in that place again!

It's my favorite restaurant in Ames.
