I took my 1993 roadmaster in for an air conditioner conversion to meet the epa guidelines. I spoke with Glen in service and he stated that he could have the conversion done but I would need to purchase a kit from the parts department. This was 43.00 I purchased the Kit and gave it to Glen and then he said I would need to purchase an accumulator. I said ok. The following day the service department called and and said my car was ready and to come pick it up. I picked the car up on May 16, 2013. Glen stated to me the car was all ready to go and there were no leaks and the air conditioner blows ice cold. I drove that car about 11 miles and the air conditioner turned hot and a strong odor of Freon could be smelled inside the car. The air conditioner and would not blow cold air.. I called and spoke to Glen who told me it was nothing to worry about and to bring the car back in and they would get to the bottom of it. Glen returned my call around 4:20 PM that day saying that I had a leak in my compressor and the part alone would be 579.00 plus labor. To my knowledge I had no leaks prior to bring the car here for service and during the call Glenn kept trying to say that I knew it was leaking. Simply not true and to be honest I do not have the confidence in this company they could possible correctly diagnose the problem after dealing first hand with them. Glen kept saying he was sorry and he did not know what to do. I told him to do the right thing and complete the repair I paid for. Resolution Sought: Get the service I already paid for. Not excuses. Based on the strong odor of freon and the rapid temperature change, I have determined the leak was caused by the company overfilling the system with r134a who should have known that new systems are to be charged at only 80 percent of the old r12 a. I want my vehicle correctly repaired for the price I agreed to pay. I want them to complete the repairs I wanted. I do not want to be bait and switched for fuel filters etc and pay more then 2 x's Date Problem Started: 5/15/2013 Date of Transaction: 5/16/2013 Amount in Dispute: $1000.00 Invoice Number: Complaint Type: Repair Issues Product or Service: Poor resolution, poor service and bait and switch service.
