"My son came to Sylvan because he was having difficulty with reading at school. After being assessed we enrolled him to receive both reading and math assistance. Over the last several months we have seen the gaps in our son's reading and math become nonexistent. The first significant sign of his advancement was on a ride home from school. My son, who would fight for hours instead of trying to read a book, got into the car and asked his dad to be quiet because he was trying to read. We have seen this continue in all of his school work. Math assignments that used to take a couple of hours to do he can now complete in less than an hour. We used to have to assist him with reading assignments so that he could get to bed on time. Now he can sit down and read several chapters of assigned reading and understand the material in a fraction of the time that it used to take him. The greatest change we have seen in him is in his confidence. Now when he thinks he can't do something we can ask him to try. As soon as he does, his confidence takes over. He realizes that he has the tools that he lacked before and this has made all the difference in the world."
