I have used paradise pet lodge many times over the past few years. Recently I boarded my cat for 21 days. I asked them to trim and wash before my return. I also asked if they would just wash her upon arrival (this is not in dispute). I received a call that night while on my way to the airport. They did a trim (something I didn't ask for), and cut her so badly she needed three stitches. In the end they charged me an extra $243 for vet bills because the groomer cut her while performing a service I didn't ask for. I will not be using them ever again for any service based on their character alone. I did not receive an apology, rather I received a bill for their mistake.

This place seemed ok. We tested it out with one overnight. That overnight went well.

Then we left our 4 dogs with them for 8 days. The day we picked them up, 3 of the dogs were coughing like crazy. They went to the vet the next day and now have meds for kennel cough. Their shots were all up to date.

The 4th dog was already in poor health, but happy. She had consecutive seizures after coming home and had to be put to sleep. When I asked the Paradise staff about odd behavior with this one, I was told that around the middle of her stay her motor control appeared to worsen and she was falling down and unable to get back up. My conclusion is that she had started having seizures days before we picked her up. I don't blame Paradise for this, but a phone call about her condition would have been nice; then I could have warned my ex that our dog was failing, rather than making her rush to the hospital at the last minute. The dog also had scratches on her body, possibly from the falling. She did not have a history of seizures, so there was nothing there that I could warn the staff about.

The chihuahua that we picked up had lost a pound. He's a finicky eater. He might have eaten more food if the staff had not fed the chihuahua food that we left them to my boston terriers. We left it at the front desk in this bag: http://img1.findthebest.com/sites/default/files/838/media/images/Royal_Canin_Chihuahua.jpg

I'd use some common sense and see the chihuahua next to the terriers and think that maybe, just maybe, this food in a bag that says "chihuahua" on it and has a picture of a chihuahua on it is possibly not for boston terriers, but maybe for the chihuahua. But I've come to the conclusion that Paradise is to busy to have common sense. My Boston's shockingly went through this bag of food in 2 days.

So, lesson learned. I wouldn't trust these people to dispose of a dead plant. They are very nice and personable people. They are also very busy. And they clearly have no common sense or capacity to make decisions.

Price Point: we paid just under $1,200 for 8 days of care, grooming, and daily playtime. Followed by another $110 to treat the 3 dogs for kennel cough, and about $650 after the seizures and endgame.

Again, in no way do I blame Paradise for me having to put my dog down. I do find incredible dis-considerate fault with them for everything else.

If nothing else, now they will be four dogs less-busy, and have plenty of time for yours.
