We have used this Shoe Repair for many years. Mr. Burress can sometimes be blunt but I appreciate his honesty when it comes to business. Some of the shoes that I bring are cheap and not worth fixing which he likes to jokingly tell me to throw them away, but others are expensive and he is honest enough to tell me whether they are worth repairing or not. He has fixed shoes, bags and window screens for us and he is always mindful of pricing. It is rare to find a cobbler these days and we are lucky to have him. When talking to him ask him about how long he's been doing this and he'll laughingly tell you about two weeks, but I remember my mom saying she had used his father back in the 40's in Bartow. It's a family business that's been around for ages and his honesty is what keeps me coming back. Thank you Mr. Burress.

Done right the first time

Could not ask for someone that listened to my problem and fixed it in short order.

Poor Customer Service

I needed work done on some shoes. I stopped by this shop - my first trip. I discussed at length what needed done on the shoes. I did not have the shoes with me because I ran by on an impulse to see if they could handle the work. After my discussion, I felt good about the shop. I was told to come back and bring the shoes. My second trip - I stopped in with 6 pairs of shoes. I was told in a very unprofessional manner that he was backed up and to check back in a month. So I waited and while I waited, I checked around to see if anyone else was available. However, this shop is convenient for me as I drive past it every day after work so I really wanted to try to stick with it. My third trip - shoes in hand - after a month of waiting as informed - I stop by. I am waiting my turn at the counter and when I stepped up, I'm told to wait just a minute. Instead of the shopkeeper coming over to the counter to discuss my needs, he shouts out in front of everyone that he is not taking any orthopedic work until he is caught up. I advised him that's what he told me last month to which he repeated he wasn't taking any orthopedic work until he is caught up. This was said loudly and in front of everyone in the shop. He then told the counter worker to get my name and number to which I replied never mind as this had been my third trip in and I wouldn't be returning. If you don't want to work on orthopedic shoes, just say so and don't waste my time.
