Great Church!!!!! Has four services each Sunday so you can choose to go to a later service if you desire. The sermons are also available online. The scripture based sermons are spiritually fulfilling and apply to everyday life. Jesus is definitely present!!!! This is a great church for ALL ages. The Contemporary Christian Music is awesome!!! I always feel like I'm attending a Christian Music concert. God always fills this church and his people with his Love. Small Group Bible study is also available. Try it for yourself.

Not a Non-Denominational Church

Only after I had invested myself spiritually and financially in this church did I learn that in fact it is not non-denominational. Non-denominational implies that the church is not affiliated with any established denomination in its doctrine, dogma and/or beliefs. Unfortunately, when I began attending this church I did not know of its fundamental Southern Baptist roots, for such is not indicated on the church's website. In response to my inquiry, I received an email from the Bible Group (Starting Point and Step-2) administrator in which he states: "[the Bible] actually instructs us not to have women in teaching roles over men. Obviously, God gifts women with teaching abilities, and they are predominantly to be used in teaching other ladies and kids." Pastor Ashcraft told me that, "men are intended to be the authority in the marital relationship," and that his "inner circle consists only of men." Now if this isn't Southern Baptist doctrine, I don't know what is. The church-seeking public has a right to know the fundamental beliefs of a church before they invest themselves in it. Had this church been named, Port City Baptist Church I would have known that it was not a fit with my egalitarian beliefs, i.e. that women are equal in all respects with men in God's view.
