Opened 25 years ago, El Cerro Grande is proud to be the first authentic Mexican restaurant in town! This traditional Mexican restaurant in Wilmington, NC is owned by the Ibarra family from the small Mexican town of Delgollado. The name El Cerro Grande is inspired by a “Big Hill” close to their family ranch. El Cerro Grande began as an idea to provide authentic, quality Mexican food with exceptional and friendly service, and the door of their first restaurant was opened in Wilmington, NC in January 1991. It has since grown to include three locations in Wilmington. Open daily from 11:00 am and offering the best Mexican lunch and dinner in town, restaurants are located at: 341 S. College Rd, 5120 S. College Rd, 1051 Military Cutoff Rd. Every location strives to provide consistent, quality food, service based on their founding principles and a great ambience for sharing with family and friends. So come on in and keep the tradition going with their aperitivos (appetizers), nachos, sopas y ensaladas (soups & salads), fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos, especialidades de la casa (house specialties), vegetarian dishes and much more. They have been serving every day—for more than two decades—delicious dishes for everyone!

Disgusting

Before we ever walked into the door, we noticed a few roaches smashed in the windows right next to the door. I walked in disgusted but put it aside because I heard this place had good food. I noticed that there were only a few customers dining as well. When we got our food I took a look under the shell of the taco only to find some really weird meat thing, and not to my surprise, the taco tasted like cat food slathered in cheese. We weren't offered refills and our waitress was somewhat snotty acting. I left a tip despite her attitude. The only thing good about this place was their salsa, but i can get the same salsa at food lion and eat it at my roach free home. Not worth the money or time.
