Worthless Spa

This spa is such a dissapointment due to the fact that I basically threw my money away. I had purchased gift certificates during the holidays. I called a few days before their expiration to schedule appointments, but got no answer after calling several times and leaving voicemail messages, e-mail messages and a mailbox note. I simply wanted the services, a refund, or some type of arrangement to get my moneys' worth. This place constantly changes owners and hours. Don't waste your time and money here. The supposed previous owner never called me or e-mailed. I proceeded to e-mail her once again after she e-mailed some kind of flyer for a service for the next 15 callers. How strange!!! I finally heard back from her, but said she couldn't do anything because they had expired and she wasn't running the place anymore and wished I had called earlier to give me an extension on them. Hello!!! How many different kind of messages did I mention leaving above? SEVERAL...

I am extremely disappointed with this place. I went in for a massage and it was supposed to start at 12 noon. This woman who was doing my massage was on her phone and told me it would just be a few minutes. I ended up waiting almost 15 before I was even taken to get ready. Then I had to wait probably another 10 minutes just for the massage to start. I set my appointment for that time because I had a few other things to do in the afternoon but because of her carelessness and disrespect to me, I was unable to make my appointments. I do not recommend this place. The massage was ok, but she smelled like cigarette smoke. Not relaxing at all.

Poor Quality Product Used

I went to this spa/salon for a mani & pedi. I was very disappointed in the quality of product used and customer service regarding my poor experience. The nail polish used was old, sticky and goopy. It did not dry. I waited in the salon an hour for the product to dry and my nail tech assured me at this time that I could leave as it was dry. One hour later I touched something to my nail and the polish was messed up. I phoned the salon, they offered for me to come back at the end of the day, but I couldn't as I had an engagement that evening. No other time to return was offered. They did offer me to return immediately and touch it up myself, but truthfully adding more wet polish at this point would have been counter productive. Seven hours later that day, I sat on my hands and then discovered fabric prints in the fingernail polish. Eleven hours later, my dog jumped and landed on my toe, to leave a gash in the polish. This is not normal! The salon does not sell the product it uses, so I was unable to purchase the polish and do any touch ups back home. I have contacted them several times for retribution as I do not live in Wichita. They are unwilling. At best, I would hope that they would refund the nice tip! I will not go back to this salon and do not recommend anyone else go.

I am the new owner of Douglas Ave Day Spa and Salon. I would like to respond to this client. I was told by the previous owner that these women were asked to stay after their mani and pedi and refused. I was informed they were told they could come back but then refused because of an event they had that night. I, as the new owner will always provide our clients wonderful service and products. I do sell the products we use on our clients and most are guaranteed. I would like to invite everyone to come into this spa and salon to see our added services! I promise to deliver a relaxing environment and quality services. I am sorry that was not a good experience for them, but encourage them to try our spa and salon again. Every owner has a different way of treating their clients and I will always do my best to make everyone who walks through my door, leave very happy! Thank you, Julye Timmons
