Mason Woods is located in Whately Massachusetts just west of the Connecticut River Valley and has received a limited stewardship of 125 acres of some of the most prime lumber growing land in the area. Our native lumber species include Red, Black, and White Oak, Sugar Maple, Ash, Sycamore, Black, Yellow, and White Birch, Beech, Shagbark Hickory, Cottonwood, Hemlock, and Eastern White Pine. Our approach to utilizing these resources is to provide for a forest that will renew itself and produce timber continually. Our harvesting techniques produce far less environmental impact than the industry standard and our desire is to pass this mindset on to our grandchildren. Though we do harvest our own trees, we do not sell lumber. We subscribe to the added value principles of the wood industry. We feel it gives us the most control over our final products and provides our customers with the highest quality work possible. We have direct control over the entire process with an on site sawmill, two dry kilns, and mill shop facilities. And even though following these principles tend to keep us a small company we feel and we think our customers would agree that it's worth it.
