I was a customer for several years, and I have decided to stop doing business there. The many reasons include: -Refusing to submit claims for warranty work due to faulty product with manufacturer on three occasions; -Overcharging for pick-up and delivery; -Carrying products that are no better than (and in some cases inferior to) what you can get at Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's, or Wal-Mart (check out Consumer Reports) but claiming that they are; -Getting my equipment back from seasonal servicing with loose belts, missing bolts, mower deck suspension cables not hooked up, mower blades not sharpened.

Even after all the money I've spent on this business, I definitely DO NOT feel like I'm valued as a customer there, and Randy has certainly proven that he's not going to go to bat for me even when the issue with a piece of equipment is due to a cheap/faulty part. They just replaced a mower deck/attachment belt about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday the belt jumped off a pulley and is shredded. Even though the belt is three weeks old, and belts don't jump off pulleys unless they're installed too loosely, I'm quite confident that when I call him about it tomorrow, he'll tell me that he WILL charge me for it. I'm doing research on other businesses now, even though Maine-ly is the closest to me.

UPDATE 1/13/13: I have lowered my rating from its original 2 stars to 1. In the process of finding the part number for the belt in question, I called the manufacturer directly, and I found out that when they replaced my belt, they charged me $13 MORE THAN THE MANUFACTURER'S RETAIL PRICE! Not only that: the manufacturer told me that the idler pulley was not supposed to have any side-to-side movement at all, but I found a good 1/2" of movement in both sideways directions. The nut that holds the idler arm is on tightly, which means that there's a spacer missing - yet another example of their not putting things back together properly. I've ordered the belt myself and will have someone else install it. Maine-ly Small Engines is never getting any of my business again, and I won't let them touch my tractor again, not even to fix their own mistakes. Clearly they can't handle it.

Edit 1/28/14 Had someone else work on the tractor. He spotted wear on the belt idler arm, and this was the likely cause of belt wear and failure. It should have been spotted when the belt was replaced in December. He asked who had worked on it before, I told him Maine-ly Small engines, and he gave a knowing nod. Later during the work, I overheard him saying "Randy, Randy, Randy..." I said to him "I take it that this isn't the first time you've had to clean up after them?" He replied, "Nope. You're not the first, and you won't be the last."

I brought my Generac portable ...

I brought my Generac portable generator to Maine-ly Small Engines for repair for a gas leak. It was 1.5 years old and still under manufacturer warranty. They refused to submit the claim to Generac for evaluation even though they are an authorized Generac service dealer. Generac even confirmed all they had to do was contact them for warranty submission and Generac would handle it from there.
