I began pre-hospital (911) work in 1985 with a vision of saving the world!  I  increasingly became disheartened with the lack of pre-hospital life-saving techniques to help the patient before 911 arrived.  In 1989, we responded to a call in a crowded restaurant in Fairfax, Virginia where a man was down by his table not breathing with no circulation.  Not a single person was doing anything to help this man.  I earned my CPR instructor card from the American Heart Association that next month and have been teaching (but for a six year break to move West) ever since.  My aim is to ensure that the student feels comfortable with their knowledge and skill to act in such crisis situations.
