When the United States construction-era boomed, so did the need for new weighing systems for asphalt, stone and concrete from the new Cardinal Scale Manufacturing Company. The organization markets all-steel, welded motor truck and axle-load scales to all parts of the country. It s located in Webb City, Mo., a city nestled on the edge of the Ozark Mountains. Cardinal is comprised of three product divisions. The division also known as Cardinal creates such products as digital weight indicators, floor scales, load cells and software. Detecto is the division that specializes in health care scales, food service scales and postal and shipping scales. The Fuller Weighing Systems division provides liquid filling systems and in-motion checkweighers. William H. Perry, an experienced scale industry man, started the company in 1950 as a result of customer need for a line of special-capacity scales.
