Doctor Alex Gomes graduated from the University of California San Diego (U.C.S.D.) in 2004. In 2008, he received his Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (S.C.C.O.). Dr. Gomes is certified in the treatment and management of eye infections and disease with the use of pharmaceuticals.As a student he wrotehis thesis on Tear Clearance ,emphasizing tear film health and Dry Eye Syndrome. Upon finishing his training he was granted hiscertification to diagnose and manage glaucoma. His training boasts training in vision therapy, glaucoma, ocular disease and surgical management. During his internship Dr. Gomes spent many months living with the Navajo people of Arizona where he cared for many ocular diseases, a large proportion being Diabetic and Hypertensive Retinopathy. The other portion of his internship was carried out in Nevada at the Wellish Vision Institute renowned for its treatment of ocular disease, cosmetic and refractive surgery i.e. Cataract, LASIK, Keratoconus). Having had LASIK himself, Dr. Gomes feels he is a great resource for people considering elective surgery. He is fluent in both Spanish & English. Dr. Gomes was born in Simi Valley grew up in Ventura County
