A Tulsa landmark! My first memories of this bookstore are from 1984, and even back then Peace of Mind had already become something of a Cherry Street landmark. This store's "rare books" collection was absolutely amazing in those days, drawing scholars and serious collectors to Tulsa from around the world, and I can't tell you how many study groups or meetings I've attended in the back rooms of this building over the years. I know that competition from online booksellers has cut deeply into the store's profit margins in recent years, and that rent from the restaurant / bar downstairs is what actually pays the mortgage, but Peace of Mind's owners have kept this bookstore's doors open mainly as a labor of love. They know that they're serving a need in Tulsa and they take this obligation to their customers very seriously. There isn't a better or more complete collection of New Age books anywhere in Tulsa-- heck, probably not even anywhere in the central United States-- and this is a great place to browse and enjoy. The spiritual worship services on Sundays and meditation classes on Mondays are also exceptional.
