The general manager of this store Kenny makes the Nino Salvaggio experience absolutely horrible! I tried to return several vegetable trays that were literally rotting after only five days of purchasing them. When I tried to return them and explain to the manager Kenny that the dip was fizzy and sour-from all of the disgusting bacteria that causes food to ferment, he decided to argue the matter. Kenny stated that the dip and vegetables were sour because they had been frozen, which makes no sense at all and was not true. The items had just been purchased five days prior and had not been frozen, also clearly indicated by the fact that there wasn't even any ice anywhere on the items at all, in the five days that we had the vegetable trays. We went back and forth, he insisted that he's been a general manager for over thirty years and knows what frozen items look like. Obviously Kenny doesn't know the difference between frozen and rotting items, maybe he needs thicker glasses and a sharper brain. Even a five year old can tell the difference between frozen and rotting. Kenny thinks its acceptable to not only argue with a customer but call them a liar to their face. To add insult to injury Kenny also decides to be a jerk and tell me I have to get the receipt for them to accept the return even though every time I've ever returned anything to Ninos they've accepted it in return for a store credit and the fact that all the vegetable trays were marked with the Ninos label and store address and that they were just purchased five days prior. I will never return to Ninos again, this is the most negative, and insulting experience ever at a store. This is a very different change in experience of going to NInos, this used to be a grade A, fantastic place to shop, more of an experience, I see that has changed for the worst with such a rude, combative manager. I'll take my business to Whole Foods and Meijers, where the managers don't insult and argue with customers over returns.

I only visit a regular grocery store maybe twice a year as Nino's is the go to place for the freshest and best selection of fruits, vegetables, meats, bakery and dairy needs.

Nino's saved the day

This is a portion of the thank you letter I sent to Nino's after they saved my life:

I just wanted to tell you how pleased I was with the competent and professional help I was given on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

I ordered food trays, salads, and desserts from your deli department for a wedding shower, and when I placed the order I inadvertently stated the date as March 28 instead of February 28. And, of course, the items were not ready when I went to pick them up. My heart almost stopped when I learned the order was not ready, as the shower was scheduled to begin in two hours.

Your wonderful deli employee Mark D. was very calm and stated everything could be ready in 45 minutes, and he would have everyone working on the order immediately. It was ready in 45 minutes, was exactly what I’d ordered, and everyone was very courteous and helpful when I returned to pick up the order.

Thank you for having such competent, well trained people on your staff. Mark saved the day!

By the way, the shower was a success and we got many compliments on the food.
