I first took my car to another...

I first took my car to another shop on Gage because it would not start. I live in the neighborhood and I always see lots of cars at this shop. He quoted me a cheap price to check it out, this will get you in the door. But his service was the worst. My car sat there for over a week and he told me he could not get it to act up. He told me he check it often. I needed my car to get around in with my kids. I was frustrated and went to pick up my car and when I did, guess what it would not start. Funny considering how long it sat at his shop. Then he tried to smooth things over by offering not to charge me because he said I looked like a good person. Really all I wanted was for my car to be fixed.



I found Walts on The internet. He was up front about his pricing and was very detailed about checking my car out. Walts found the problem and phoned me within an hour. I gave them the ok and my car was fixed up the same day. I will not be a returning customer to the other shop but ill be back to Walts because of his service. I am glad I found Walts and I am more than glad to share the word.

My windshield wiper quit working, Walt took a look at it and found a loose nut, he put it back together and did not charge me even though I offered to pay. A good shop to have in our neighborhood.

I had my blazer at Sears and they found my engines head gasket leaking. They recommended me to take it to Walts Auto Service since they did not get into that kind of work. Walts guys checked it out and confirmed it was bad. They gave my a detailed estimate and took there time explaining it to me. Will be coming back as soon as my tax return gets in. Thanks for the education.

No pressure to go beyond what I was comfortable doing, but did give me objective information so that I could make a informed decision. I used Walt’s for about six years then moved to the Ozarks. I had my 1996 Ford Truck at six different shops because it would die on me out of the blue every couple of days. I was coming home to visit some friends at Christmas and took it to Walt. Within an hour he called and told me they found the problem, ordered the part and had it fixed they next day. It has not missed a lick so far. Thanks Walt, Best Christmas present this year was to have my truck running again with out worrying it would die.

My name is Lucy and I have used Walt personally for the past 15 years on my family’s vehicles. I meet Walt when he was coaching USVBA volleyball. He coached 3 of my daughters. Walt has always taken care of our needs and goes the extra mile for his customers. He takes care of his customers and tells it like it is. Today I was in because my check engine light and my van was running rough. He gives you the choice and tries to look at the whole picture. His inspections are probably the most through in Topeka. He is more than just a mechanic, he is our friend. He is well known is the business community, our paths cross a lot within the Chamber of commerce , Rotary and other business networking groups.

I am a 1st time reviewer because Walt asked my to. He asks all of his customers to review his business. After he informs you about your vehicle he will most likely ask you to review his business to create a positive, like he did me. My car just died. I called Wal...

My car just died. I called Walt and he had it towed to the shop. His guys checked it out and found the complete wiring harness to my engine had bare and brittle wires and could have started the car on fire. They checked it out and found a recall for this safety problem but the recall expired. Time to start looking for a new car, that I will have walt’s check out before I buy.

I just started using Walt’s a few months ago. He has saved me lots of money and has educated me about maintaining my vehicles. The other day I brought my 2008 Chevy HHR with 31,800 miles, to have the antifreeze flushed. Walt noticed that the level was low and checked further finding out that my vehicles head gasket was bad. Walt went the extra effort and called the Chevy dealership to see if it would be covered warranty. He found that that it was and gave me the contact info so I could get my vehicle repaired at no charge. He also has a email reminder service that I really appreciate to keep me up to date. Thanks for going the extra mile.

Walt and his crew has repaired many of my cars over the years and I will say, I will not use anyone else. They are honest and fix it fast. I have used other shops in the past that claim to be cheaper but it always cost more in the end. I would recommend Walt’s to anyone.

I would give this business negative stars (won't let me) as I am not happy with my experience at Walt's today. Yes I agree that they are friendly...to a point, and they were prompt in calling me with an estimate. HOWEVER, I felt the estimate was too high so I went to pick my car up. I was not notified at ANY point that there would be a charge for looking at my brakes! Had I been told about this charge BEFORE they performed "diagnostics" on my vehicle, I would have taken it to one of the several other repair shops in Topeka that do not charge for this service! I also believe that Walt knows this, that is why he chooses to have a sign, regarding this charge, on a half sheet of paper, behind him, on a cluttered wall!!! Trust me he is no stranger to signs, has them all over the place, pictures, other irrelevant signs. It would be to his benefit to replace some of the pictures of himself with a sign useful to his customers.

Ashley states that No pricing was mentioned- I spoke to the customer over the phone and advised her that there would be a half of a hour charge for the time to inspect her brakes. She lives down the street from my business and passes by my sign out front of my shop that reads $20.00 off and discounts for Military, Stormontvail and State of Kansas which implies that there is a charge. Just like when you enter into a business and ask them to perform a service, there is a implication that there will be a charge because you entered in a Business. I do not have any signage that reads “Free anything” I am a small business that has a brick and mortar building, that pays my rent, taxes, insurances and has employees that do not work for free. When she showed up she also ask me to give her vehicle a thorough inspection because she would be driving it a lot. My pricing is posted on the wall right when you walk into my business. After my we inspected her brakes and gave it a thorough inspection and noted what we found I called Ashley and went over everything. Before any work is done on a vehicle the customer is advise any up front costs. She said she would have to talk to her mother since she was going to pay for the repairs and would call me back in 15 minutes. Some time went by and she called and simply stated that she was coming to pick up her vehicle. She arrived at my shop a few minutes after she hung up and wanted her vehicle back immediately. When I told her the total of her invoice she told me that she was not informed of any charges and that she has never been in a shop that charges to diagnose her vehicles problems. She went outside and talked to someone on the phone, she came back in she was rude and told me that she would pay only because I had a sign posted of my prices.
