Premier Sharpening is a mobile sharpening service located in the greater Houston area. They go to your home or place of business and sharpen your items in one of their vans. This process usually takes approximately 30 minutes or less, depending on the amount of items to be sharpened. They sharpen knives, scissors, and garden tools. Premier Sharpening was founded by Steve Borne in the fall of 2008. This family owned and operated business was grown out of a passion for sharp knives in the kitchen - possibly from the long history of chefs in the family! Steve's grandfather, Russell Borne, was Head Chef at the famous International House in New Orleans, Louisiana and Steve's father, Russell Borne, Jr., started his career there, and owned and operated his own restaurant. So of course, Steve grew up in the kitchen and worked at his father's restaurant after school and on weekends. Steve inherited these great culinary skills (as well as both of his sons) but knives was where his passion was so he found his way in the kitchen by helping chefs get their knives sharp. Steve's youngest son, Ethan, is in training and has been for the last several years! Ethan loves cooking and sharpening as much as his father and enjoys hearing his customer';s say how sharp he gets their knives! Rhonda, Steve's wife, recently left the corporate world and joined Premier Sharpening full-time! Rhonda's corporate background gives this family owned business a boost by making appointments, getting the mobile sharpening schedule organized and reaching out to chefs, tailors, quilters and caterers to offer this specialty service. Rhonda's main focus is on marketing bringing in their eldest son, Dawson, to learn this part of the business! You can usually find Russell, Jr. and Ethan at Memorial Villages Farmers' Market every Saturday from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM creating a sharp edge (and fixing chips and nicks) for their customer's knives and garden tools. Steve can be found every Saturday at Urban Harvest Farmers' Market from 8:00 AM - NOON putting a sharp edge (and fixing chips and nicks) on his customer's knives, garden tools and scissors.
