My husband and i were at the location in Thurmont, MD recently and will never return.We were looking for a breakfast buffet and this was the only place near by open thru the week for a buffet. If you have never been there, do not waste your time going. It is TERRIBLE. We were there at 8:30 on a Tuesday (they serve from 7:00 to 11:00), most of the containers were empty or had all but been scraped clean. They did bring out more food, but was it worth it?? The biscuits were several days old Hard and stale. I tried the sausage gravy on my potatoes, well this was a mistake, they had not cooked the flour prior to mixing the milk and sausage, Tasted like raw flour. I cannot rate this restuarant with even one star. They should know better!!!!!!!!!

Lost Thanksgiving reservation for eight people. No help getting it fix, oh well attitude.

I have been going to the mountain gate family restaurant for 15 years or more. After my father died and my brother moving to north carolina we decided that making holiday meals for 3 was not worth our time. So i decided that the mountain gate would be our holiday meals for us. A few years ago i fell in love with a pie that you have it was a white base and had chocolate chips and walnuts on top it put me in mind of a pecan pie but much much better. We went to mountain gate today for mother's day to my surprise you no longer make that pie. i was very disappointed. i have been on weigh watcher since 2001 and have lost 100 pounds. i would always give in and have some of that pie. it was a special treat for me since i have to diet the rest of my life. i have to say that i will greatly miss that pie. i am a wonderful cook and baker and have never been able to make that pie. The two times I have eaten there recently,

The service was super speedy,

The food was super scrumptious,

The staff was super special, and

The gift shoppe is super spectacular.



I have eaten there several times in the past, however I hadn't been in the area

for several years, for health reasons. Everytime I'm in the area I stop.
