My first experience with San Miguel was delivery. They got my order wrong. They did re-deliver in a timely manner though. However, The tacos were lacking in ingredients... the hard shell that I tried anyway... not a lot of beans or other stuff and no diced tomatoes? They should be loaded with all ingredients and sour cream!

I later dined in at San Miguel and the food is good. But, not up to par with Ponchitos and A Mexican Affair. It was disappointing.

The taco salad was sadly lacking. Bare minimum of ingredients and the two thinly sliced tomatoes weren't even diced, and if they had been, it still wouldn't have been enough. Just a small dollup of sour cream, too.

Also, when served the chips and salsa upon arriving, no individual plates were offered, which would have been helpful. The salsa is great, but not thick enough.

But, service was fast and delivery is always fast. The people are very nice, too... so, room for improvement, but I won't go out of my way to order again and I won't dine in again.

Because of this review, I was contacted by either someone who owns or works for San Miguel, or a friend of someone who owns or works for San Miguel, and called a "scum bag." My review is now 1 star when it was a 3 star.

This is the ONLY real Mexican food in 'Cuse.... Alto Cinco, A Mexican Affair, and Ponchitos are all fake Mexican (especially their salsa, beans and rice). This food is actually legit. I'm from Georgia, where we have A LOT of real Mexican restaurants, and I can say 100% that this is the ONLY REAL Mexican food in Syracuse. The salsa is real, the beans and rice are real (not weird black beans and white rice like the fake places)... the chips are real (not made of flour)..... So delicious! I'm sure the Syracusians don't appreciate it, because most of the food the people in this city love is disgusting (compared to the BBQ, fried chicken, etc, down South)... but as a Southerner who actually knows what good food tastes like, this place is probably the best food in town, besides maybe the Chicken Fingers at Mark's Pizzeria.

We ate at San Miquel for the first time this evening after hearing from a friend that it was a truly authentic Mexican restaurant. Not so much. We thought the quality of the food was good (e.g., all white meat chicken) and the portion size was too. But the flavors were not very strong or distinctive, and everything was on the salty side. Also service was spotty, and the waiter never noted or brought my drink. One of us had a burrito muy grande that tasted like a chicken fajita wrapped in a large tortilla.

Overall, we were disappointed.
